ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION OF A GENERAL
MEETING OF MEMBERS ON 28 JANUARY 1988
Members are to comply with the following Code
of Conduct in addition to any requirements covered by statute:
- Maintain a permanent office during normal office hours
covered by staff or answer phone according to the size of the firm.
- Offer clear terms of business and state or confirm detailed
specifications covered by quotations, in writing, to each client.
- Employ (and ensure that any sub-contractor employs)
sufficient skilled staff, properly supervised and controlled, to enable contracts
to be carried out and completed expeditiously in a proper and workmanlike
manner, in accordance with the specification and good practice.
- Use materials of a quality suitable for the intended
purpose and which comply fully with the agreed specification.
- Maintain adequate insurance policies to cover the normal
risks to client, the public and the firm’s employees.
- Keep proper files and records of each contract.
- Deal promptly and fairly with any complaints made by
clients directly or made by clients to the Association.
- Permit, and/or seek permission from clients for, authorised
officers of the Association to inspect the standard of workmanship on any
fencing contract undertaken by a member when requested to do so by the Chief
Executive of the Association.
- Promote and maintain the reputation of the Fencing Contractors
Association by encouraging the highest standards of business ethics and workmanship
amongst management and staff.
